Essentially, the main equipment you will require to start your sign business are foremost a Vinyl Cutter and CAD Software. Ideally, you would also like to compliment your set up with a Digital Printer. Apart from materials, supplies and general office equipment (PC, desk top printer, scanner etc.) all that remains is sound training.

It does not seem a great deal! But the choice of cutters and printers on the market is vast, and quite often a minefield to deal with. You shall be glad to know that JFK has removed the headache and put together some standard packages with a varying prince range.

Even if you start with a small standard package, you shall be able to build on it as your demands and requirements increase. Our advise is not to be phased by the sheer quantity and range of equipment products on offer. Stick to your budget!

Not all manufacturers are the same! Not every cutter or printer will perform the same. In the sign industry you do generally get what you pay for. Also note that a lot of companies sell the same equipment, though it may be badged differently. A prime example would be a “Rockhopper” printer is manufactured by Mutoh, but is badged as a “Jetster” by Spandex.

Budget, unfortunately will always govern your first steps towards becoming a sign maker. We would all love to purchase the best package, but the reality is that we cannot. But do not despair, JFK can help!
